Michele A. Miller, Ph.D.
Michele has over twenty years of experience working with non-profits of various sizes, missions and programs. She has worked as an Executive Director with responsibilities overseeing all programming, fundraising and daily management of a mid-size conservation and education non-profit, as Development Director with responsibility for overseeing all fundraising efforts for several small and mid-sized arts organizations, and as Campaign Manager and other development positions for larger nonprofit organizations. She has also worked as a Grants Manager overseeing the grant-making and administration of private foundations. This experience has provided her with insights into all aspects of nonprofit development and administration--from raising funds to distributing them to spending them on essential programming--and has enabled her to form a holistic and strategic approach that can adapt to the needs of each organization.
While her focus has primarily been in conservation, education and the arts she has also worked with organizations in health care, animal welfare and other areas. Michele also volunteers in many hands-on programs within her community. Michele has a BA and MA from Stanford University and PhD from Boston University. In addition to her excellent and efficient grant-writing she enjoys all forms of writing and communication, including science writing, fiction and playwriting. This coincides with her view that every organization has a ‘story’ to be told and that it is in telling this story clearly and elegantly that organizations gain support and grow.
